Introducing Amal: A New Partnership Rooted in Strength, Skill, and Opportunity
BB Energy Foundation December 7, 2025
AMAL
In Marrakech, every cohort of Amal trainees steps into the kitchen with a shared purpose: to build skills, grow their confidence, and create new possibilities for themselves and their families. These are ambitious, capable women who bring remarkable resilience and commitment to everything they do. At the BB Energy Foundation, we are honoured to begin a partnership that supports this work.
Why Amal’s work matters
Across Morocco, many women take on significant responsibilities at home while also navigating structural barriers to stable employment, formal training, and career progression. These obstacles don’t reflect a lack of ability — they reflect a lack of accessible pathways.
Amal’s Culinary Training Program exists to expand those pathways. It offers a structured, 10-month training in professional culinary arts, combined with real kitchen experience through Amal’s social enterprises, personal development coaching, psychological coaching sessions, and English classes. When needed, the program includes flexible support such as childcare and housing assistance — practical measures that make long-term stability possible.
Each trainee enters Amal with strengths already deeply rooted: discipline, adaptability, creativity, and the courage to pursue new opportunities. The program builds on what already exists, allowing trainees to step into the hospitality sector as future professionals equipped for dignified, steady work.
What this partnership will do
Through BB Energy Foundation’s support, the full cohort of 26 young women will have access to:
• High-quality culinary training led by professional chefs
• Real-world experience in Amal’s restaurant, catering unit, and social enterprises
• Life skills and personal development coaching
• English language classes
• Tailored childcare or housing support when needed
• Guidance, mentoring, and job-placement assistance
The goal is clear:
To strengthen the professional and personal foundations that allow women to build lasting financial stability and create a different future for themselves and their families.

The wider impact
Amal’s model contributes to broader change across Marrakech:
• Local restaurants gain a pipeline of trained, motivated staff
• Community attitudes shift as more women enter and excel in a male-dominated field
• Children benefit from greater household stability and long-term opportunity
• A replicable model of inclusive, skills-based training takes root
This partnership supports progress toward SDGs on poverty reduction, gender equality, quality education, and decent work — but most importantly, it supports women who are leading meaningful change in their own lives and communities.
A partnership grounded in respect
For the BB Energy Foundation, choosing partners is always about trust — trust in the people doing the work, in the mission guiding them, and in the values that shape their decisions. Amal embodies all of these. Their trainees are active agents in their own transformation, building futures that reflect their talent, confidence, and perseverance.
We are proud to walk alongside Amal as they continue strengthening pathways for women who deserve not just opportunity, but recognition, respect, and long-term support.

Understanding Rwanda’s Recent History Through Film
Rwanda’s recent history is both painful and important to understand. The 1994 genocide against the Tutsi had a devastating human impact and continues to shape conversations around justice, healing, and reconciliation today. We have highlighted two films, The Uncondemned and Hotel Rwanda, which offer valuable historical and human perspectives on this period, helping viewers engage more deeply with the experiences of those who lived through it.
