AMAL

Building Confidence, Skills, and Opportunity for Women Facing Social and Economic Barriers

Amal is a women-centered Moroccan non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalized women—especially single mothers and women from disadvantaged backgrounds—through vocational training, social support, and pathways to dignified employment. Rooted in the belief that every woman deserves the chance to redefine her future, Amal offers a safe and nurturing space where women can rebuild confidence, gain new skills, and become active, empowered participants in their communities.
With its flagship culinary programme at the heart of its work, Amal provides professional training that opens doors to stable employment in Marrakech’s vibrant hospitality sector. Beyond technical skills, the organisation offers life-skills coaching, language education, psychological support, and job placement—ensuring that each woman receives comprehensive, holistic support. Amal’s approach recognises women not as victims of circumstance, but as resilient individuals whose expertise at navigating adversity becomes the foundation for long-term empowerment.
Amal also extends its impact through inclusion initiatives for deaf women and through rural livelihood projects such as beekeeping and sustainable food production. By strengthening women’s economic resilience while promoting inclusive, community-driven development, the organisation supports families, revitalises local economies, and challenges the social stigma and structural barriers that single mothers often face.
Through its culinary, educational, and holistic empowerment programmes, Amal provides:
  • Professional culinary training led by experienced chefs, preparing women for employment in restaurants, cafés, hotels, and social enterprises.
  • Hands-on practice through social enterprises, giving trainees real-world experience and strengthening job readiness.
  • Life-skills and personal development coaching, building confidence, communication skills, and long-term resilience.
  • Mental health and psychosocial support, ensuring that women receive the emotional and psychological care needed to heal and grow.
  • English language instruction, strengthening employability in Marrakech’s tourism-driven economy.
  • Childcare and stability support, particularly for single mothers facing heightened social and economic vulnerability.
  • Employment placement and employer engagement, linking graduates to ethical workplaces and advocating for inclusive hiring practices.
  • Sustainable livelihood initiatives, including rural projects that support biodiversity and local food systems.
Amal’s work contributes directly to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The organisation’s inclusion of deaf women also supports SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), while its rural sustainability projects strengthen SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production).
The BB Energy Foundation is proud to partner with Amal. Together, we are supporting single mothers to access high-quality training, stable employment, and the social support they need to build secure, independent lives—creating ripple effects of stability, opportunity, and hope for their children and their wider communities.
