Guyana, located on South America’s northern coast, is a country rich in natural resources, biodiversity, and cultural diversity. Despite its growing economy, supported by the emerging energy sector, inequality and limited access to essential services continue to affect many communities — particularly women, children, and migrants in remote hinterland regions.
BB Energy Foundation’s work in Guyana focuses on strengthening protection systems, advancing gender equality, and supporting women’s economic empowerment through partnerships with trusted, community-based organisations.
Our collaboration with Blossom Inc., a leading civil society organisation in child protection, expands access to trauma-informed care, psychosocial support, and foster placements for refugees, mainly Venezuelan migrants, and Guyanese children. Through mobile Child Advocacy Centres and outreach in remote regions, Blossom Inc. provides vital case management, therapy, and crisis support — ensuring that no child is left without care or protection.
With Help and Shelter, we are supporting the Red Village community in Essequibo, working to raise awareness about gender-based violence, improve survivor support services, and build local capacity through youth life skills training and community dialogues. The project aims to shift social attitudes and strengthen prevention and response networks that protect women and girls.
Finally, through WeLead, we are investing in the economic independence of women entrepreneurs across Regions 2–5. By providing business training, mentorship, and community sensitisation sessions, WeLead helps women transform their skills and ideas into sustainable enterprises — building both livelihoods and confidence.
Together, these partnerships form part of our wider commitment to uplift communities and create sustainable, women-led change — ensuring that all people, especially women and children, have the resources and opportunities to reach their potential.
