WELEAD (Women Entrepreneurs Academy)

Empowering women entrepreneurs to build leadership, resilience, and economic independence

WeLead Association is a Guyanese non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women in business and leadership. Their mission is to foster economic independence and leadership among women through mentorship, training, networking, coaching, and counselling, enabling them to start, grow, and sustain successful businesses. Recognising the systemic barriers women face in entrepreneurship, WeLead Association combines education, practical business support, and community engagement to strengthen women-led enterprises and promote gender equality.

Working with aspiring and established women entrepreneurs, WeLead Association provides guidance, resources, and opportunities to enhance business skills, financial literacy, and leadership capacity. Their approach integrates online and in-person training, mentorship, business simulations, and community networking, equipping women to navigate market challenges, scale their businesses, and contribute meaningfully to local economies.

Through their Women Entrepreneurs Academy (WEA) project, WeLead Association provides:

  • Entrepreneurship Training & Education: Certified online courses through the DreamBuilder platform, covering business planning, marketing, finance, and operations.
  • Mentorship & Networking: Access to peer-to-peer mentoring, local and international business leaders, and support networks to grow sustainable enterprises.
  • Business Simulation & Practical Experience: Hands-on opportunities to apply business concepts, make strategic decisions, and refine entrepreneurial skills in a controlled, supportive environment.
  • Business Development Support: Assistance with business registration, compliance, product development, marketing, and access to funding opportunities.
  • Community Engagement & Advocacy: Programs to build confidence, challenge gender norms, and promote women’s active participation in local economies.

WeLead Association’s work directly aligns with SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By providing education, mentorship, and practical business support, the organisation empowers women, strengthens community economic resilience, and drives systemic change for inclusive growth.

The BB Energy Foundation is proud to partner with WeLead Association in Guyana. Together, we are investing in initiatives that support women entrepreneurs, create employment opportunities, and foster sustainable, gender-inclusive economic development across underserved communities.
